"I wonder when Americans will understand that fighting against terrorists has nothing to do with fighting against a country."
I think we understand your point very well. It’s a great source of frustration. If the attack came from another nation, you would now be condemning us for that nation’s destruction but the war would be over.
"The less they do the bigger the problems and the dangers."
From Mary Anne on Flame: “Europe has been dealing with terrorist acts on European soil for decades.â€
That’s a very poignant statement. Living or “dealing†with terrorism for decades is an option most Americans won’t accept.
Ok, if appeasement is such a dangerous behavior, why not send the US troops invading Europe …Aren't there AQ bases over here, as I've heard?
Appeasement is a brilliant policy in the very short term. As far as the US invading Europe, I would hope that European countries will aggressively eradicate AQ on their own initiative and seek Coalition assistance whenever necessary.
From your Flame:
Terrorists hide and wait while troops are highly visible and predictable.
What about the fact that terrorists are now in hiding and the number of countries where they can operate freely is dwindling? Afghanistan, Iraq, and soon Libya.
It's not by waging war that the US will win against terrorism.
Unfortunately you are probably right. I think a lot of Americans think the same thing but don’t want to admit it. Unless God shows up on the planet and let’s us know which religion he favors, terrorists will continue to be cloned from a misdirected pool of hatred.
Perhaps the fight is not futile. It has been 2 ½ years since 911.
But now it looks like AQ has found it more opportune to kill our allies- effectively making them hostages and allowing some Europeans to point the finger of blame at us.
I think It would help if Europeans directed a portion of their outrage at AQ...instead of sipping cappuccino with them.
