re: Can you move to the leeward side?
Assuming that the torrential rain you refer to implies that you are on windward.
If you live on windward, don't you get tired of the green fuzz that grows in your shoes?
I think I am in the middle, geography dictates the rainfall- my house is often in a ground-level cloud- mornings are often foggy- if i drive 10 miles i see cacti... hawaii is an odd place... all in all i like it- when I chose this house I was warned that many people dont like the constant clouds, and in winter months you get many clouds, but on the plus side I have never felt a need for air-conditioning, and only a very few times have I wanted a heater.... and I do have a fireplace for those times... I think the temps usually stay between the high 50s and high 70s most of the time here- i live at ~2500 feet....
As for green stuff in my shoes- never happened, but there was one bad experience- I had to go on the mountain for 2 or 3 nights... i put on my new boots and the shoelace snapped...(damn!, I thought- well good thing I have my old boots that have been sitting in my closet for a few months) BIG MISTAKE After about 2 hrs they smelled so terrible that i was seriously willing to risk frostbite and go bare foot- it was HORRIBLE!!!! Also my leather jacket started cracking and flaking... no mold visible, but the humidity ruined it....:( -humidity doesnt do well with soft leather...
My greatest problem has been with the cats.... I had one give birth in my car, and then another pair break into my house and hide a kitten in my storage room... and then had a cat leave the lower half of a rat in my garage-(just proving that cats DO give a rats ass)... luckily the cats have moved on....
so hawaii has plusses and minuses, and for those of you who DARE complain about gas prices- SCREW YOU!!!"
Regular is 2.40 here!!!!
