Does this imply that some political leaders (of course I'm speaking of Democrats and Independants alike) would never have thought to address malicious nuke hazards? It's an interesting question.
I think that an Independant would have, but would a Gore administration have brought it up?
The article implies that the research may have been going on for at least a few months now. Possibly longer, considering that researchers are now in place.
