I'd suggest you give it up. ed isn't very smart, and wants to play with the big kids, wants acceptance at any price from anyone.

And there are limits to what can be accomplished here. A couple of the folks who consider themselves bright ain't intellectually honest, as we've seen lately.

phil is a bigot. Sees only the bad in one particular group, to the exclusion of his own leaders barbarity.

And neither you, nor I, nor the entire Board can give them sanity, intelligence, enough acceptance, honesty and/or understanding. But if we understand the limitations of folks, and accept that, it all can be enjoyable. (Except ed, who has no socially redeeming qualities.)

Ain't gonna happen. ed would shut up if the conservatives took him on, but those are the folks who secretly agree with him, he's the attack dog. (Sorta gives "dog" a bad name, as well as "drunk". He's a blight to both groups.) They both kinda like him, and they don't have the guts to stand up to him. Or they would. Because when cornered some of the rest get foul, too.
