Space/Science » in reply to What do you make of this Mars animation?

Optical illusion

The animation is made from the left and right images of a stereo pair. One perspective reveals more of a vaguely crescent-shaped rock than the other, and that accounts for the "phantom" object.

You really don't want to try to create animations mixing left and right images. The result will just make you dizzy, and lead to hallucinations.
