Oppy's "Last Chance Rock" micropanorama

Funny how the quantity of MI images available for sol 39 about tripled just a couple of hours after the press conference...;-). Gave me a chance to try another "micropanorama" with more images, and with the conference image of "Last Chance" rock to use as a stitching guide. (I'm doing the usual marking time to give the images a chance to load; those with fast connection can just ignore my blather and cut to the chase.)

Knowing that NASA will eventually release a perfect panorama (while we might argue "true color" till the end of time [and probably will], there's no arguing with the trigonometry of geometrically-mapping images), I thought I'd see if I could contribute something original (or at least novel). So I coregistered some PanCam color, to get this:

It doesn't stand up well to close inspection at larger sizes, so this small image is all I'll publish. Hey, you try matching two images when one is 20 times the size of the other, and they were taken at different angles and under different lighting conditions!

But I'm not too embarrassed by the monochrome micropanorama to publish it in various sizes up to humonguous:

That should do while we wait for the official version. Hope it's useful.
