I really wish that NASA could bump the schedule up to get us there faster. I listened to the commission hearings yesterday at Georgia Tech, and there seemed to be an overall sentiment by all the guest speakers (is that what they were called?) to move the schedule up. Be more ambitious. We went to the moon in less than 10 years before. Let's do it again.
A member of the commission asked why we didn't have a colony in the Arctic. He was obviously making a statement about how people didn't see the need or the business potential. The guest speaker answered but then turned the question around. He asked why people move to Atlanta. Is it for the traffic? There are problems to overcome but the business opportunities are enough to make it worth it.
Does NASA need to prove to the government and businesses what potential there is?
