You might want to read it twice
You're endorsing an argument for creating a plutocracy: Rule by the wealthy. The argument itself is the old self-serving perversion of Darwin's Theory of Evolution, that the wealthy demonstrate their "fitness" to rule over the rest of us by virtue of being wealthy.
It's worth savoring the key point a second time:
...the same people who prove by previous entrepreneurial experiments that they are capable of creating wealth get to control the next phase of investment...for ever and ever amen.
Where's the upward mobility in Gilder's plan for a plutocratic paradise? Where's the middle class? All Gilder is arguing for is that those already on top should stay there.
Which is pretty much the essence of true conservatism. But not of Americanism.
