LarryJ - "It's completely pointless today to argue the merits (or lack thereof) of the Vietnam war decades after it ended. At this point, it would be about as worthwhile as arguing that we should've invaded Europe in 1943 instead of 1944. Decades after the fact, any such debate is wasted effort."

That's nonsense. Many things are viewed far better with some time than at the moment. So, for the sake of discussion, do you regard that loss of 58,000 American lives as worthwhile, in pursuit of a valid national goal? If so, why?

If not, isn't it worthwhile to protest such a waste?

Simple questions, and the "It's completely pointless" stuff is really evasive, dodging and not true.
