re: Will Cassini map Titan before releasing the Huygens Probe ?

Cassini does two close flybys of Titan in October (1200km) and December (2340 km). I assume that the geometry of the October pass is about the same. But in this graphic the potential landing site is plotted wrong - it is at the right longitude but is too far north. It is actually at about -11 deg, just south of the circular dark patch. So if the dark areas are the liquid hydrocarbons, Huygens should get good images, if not actually land in it if the winds take it a bit north.

There is earlier flyby of Titan on July 2 just after SOI. It is at 338,000 km so the very best ISS images might be ~ 2km/pixel, but will not see the landing area.
