well, unfortunately my knoppix CD was hosed a few days ago using it to removed a virus from a windows xp laptop.
I used/abused the thing so damn much that it just got 500 too many tiny scratches on it and started booting into a kernel panic
It can use either KDE or Gnome, (think of them as 'windows' environments)
If you see a little footprint on your start button you are running Gnome, and should look for Nautilus like et said (I'm not much of a gnome person)
If you see a 'K' there, then you are running KDE and can use 'Konqueror' (if damn near everything is spelled with 'k' its kde. . .)
Both double as windows explorers and internet explorers.. .
either way you can also look for 'Mozilla' in the start menu. . . It is by far the best for browsing the internet. (I like it better than MS IExplorer)
If you mess around with your start button some more you will find a little tool to setup internet real easily. Look for something like 'eth config, ethernet config, isdn-config/setup' etc. . . it will be a humble looking script but its really easy to use, and you don't have to restart your computer.
I will let you know soon. . . in fact I may just wander over to my office and see if my download of knoppix was completed and verify everything for you. . .
I also read somewhere that on this version of knoppix theres a way to just install it to your harddrive, in case you decide you like it and don;t want to set everything up every time you start your computer.
