re: article favoring Iraq war

To meditate:
He recalls that the judges at Nuremberg had called the unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country "the supreme international crime".

Before the war, I had suggested sending a small group in Iraq to find Saddam, and neutralize him. That way, thousands of lifes would have been spared. If that was imposible, then don't invade, don't interfere and let time play its role.
It turned out somebody very influential (an Iraqi general) was contacted and convinced to let the troops arrive in Baghdad without fighting and that's what happened. So, would it have been impossible to find someone close enough to Saddam to know where he was likely to be (even if there were several possibilities) at a given moment?

Anyway, there's a lot of hypocrisy and double standards!!
Saddam was as dangerous when he was the US ally in the 80's as he was later (if not more). Other countries are far more dangerous to the world than Iraq: North Korea, fo instance; but it's settled diplomatically.
And Pakistan: if Musharraf is killed, then....
