20,000 LY to Earth
The Eurobro have a PLANET microlensing program starting this May that will over several years detect Jovii and possibly terrestrial planet 'Earths' by monitoring lots of stars for microlensing events. Looking at rich Milky Way starfields, this technique will discover planets that are wicked far away with the mean expected distance to a terrestrial planet being around 20 KLY. Takes several years statistically to make & confirm discoveries.
