You have of course some proof behind the "IRA was the direct result of the assassination of some 500 IRA apparachnicks by the British Government" statement.......

If in the 80s or 90s the British government had said "Enough of this crap" and publicly assassinated Gerry adams and Martin McGuiness for being past actual terrorists and "spiritual leaders" of the IRA movement, do you really think the US response would have been a positive one?

If you want a history lesson on how the truce came about, let me know.......
