You have to remember that the Iraqis wanted
1) To move against Israel
2) To take control of their own oil

The interests of those in charge of the "secret government" which controlled substantil US assets at the time decided that that could not happen, and helped the Bathist coup.

The only way we're going to put an end to this kind of activity is by exposing it. That's why we need an immediate Congressional inquiry into the Office of Special Plans and their early planning for the Iraq war...
