This explains a lot - "Americans believe Saddam terror link"

Think this may be because GWB & Co. have lied so much about it? Tell it often enough, without laughing, and folks will believe 'em.

Tragic. But what about the people who follow the news, the ones who know Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, and are still warmongers? Is there an excuse for them?

Oh, they'll have one. Always do. And it won't be any more rational or relevant this iteration than the last ones, but if they tell it to themselves often enough, they start to believe 'em.

Meanwhile, THEY aren't dying, aren't losing their loved ones, aren't having their houses rocketed, bombed, shot up. THOSE people just shouldn't have chosen to be born over there.
A majority of Americans still believes Saddam Hussein was in cahoots with al-Qa'ida and that Iraq either had weapons of mass destruction or a programme for developing them, according to a new opinion poll.

The poll, conducted by the University of Maryland, showedmost respondents were unaware of the testimony of David Kay, the administration's chief weapons inspector, that he had found no weapons, or that of Richard Clarke, the former counter-terrorism tsar whose book Against All Enemies has been the talk of Washington.
