It appears that a cease fire in Fallujah is not an opiton. The bad guys seem to want a violent conclusion to their control of that city. They maybe so indoctrinated that they don't understand that they're about to be crushed like cockroaches. However it is more likely that they want to be wiped out, e.g. make Fallujah into an Iraqi Alamo. It appears the USMC fully understands the political dynamic but has lost the initiative. This maybe a situation where our overwhelming military power is not an advantage. It is not clear what the best tactic should be. Maybe a complete media blackout and then wipe out the bad guys? It might have been a mistake to have negotiated in the first place (just get it over with quickly).
