Good catch; that was well worth reading.
Interesting also to note that Squyres seems less convinced about the shallow sea interpretation than one might have imagined from that official "Opportunity Hits the Beach!" briefing. According to Moomaw, it sounds like he doesn't consider the surface water / groundwater deposition question to be 100% closed, and said he personally likes a sabkha model (good call, Nick!).
