Thanks Nick, acid fog rocks!

I never imagined that this level of dedication and scientific inquiry, not to mention expense, would go into a study of alteration of Martian rocks. I am a bit stunned, and clearly, a Mars neophyte. They even had to propose a basalt composition by subtracting the soil that coated the rocks of Pathfinder. They correctly presaged many things, such as that Iron and Magnesium Sulfates were likely present there. The only thing missing was Jarosite! The SEM pictures were awesome, especially Fig. 8, I thought. Did their proposed basalt composition match the new RAT brushed Mer data? I wish they had given the details of the basalt eating acid fog model - gotta love it! Is it on-line?
