Missing Nitrogen

Nitrogen has gone awol in a huge way from Mars. Almost none in the atmosphere, and none measurable in the soil or rocks. No nitrates.

Nitrogen is a non-condensible gas under mars conditions (unlike CO2), so more vulnerable to atmospheric loss mechanisms like impact erosion, solar wind, sputtering etc.
