On the surface, it does seem as if I took both sides of the same issue.
And I believe I have been consistent. The American public have assumed Cheney/bush are telling the truth and believe the Hussein regime was tied to al-Qaeda.
And they still believe that. The option is to believe the government is untrustworthy, something most people are reluctant to do. That gives the "Big Lie" it's opportunity to work.
There is no hard evidence to contradict their lies in this area, only the tedious task of proving a negative.
It WASN'T the hammering of a biased media. It was the "hammering" of a biased Administration reported in the media. And I DO believe people have been misled, as indicated by the polls.
Now, when given the truth, evidence, people will form more accurate opinions. People wanted Iraq to be the walk in the park Cheney/bush depicted. People supported a walk in the park to avoid another 9-11 as described by the Administration.
However, in the case of the war itself, reality has had a chance to intervene. As time has gone on, and as the prologue to war has become clearly less and less accurate, as it becomes obvious that there has been a massive failure in our governments accuracy, the American people are accepting, gradually, reluctantly, that they were deceived, at least mislead. There is hard evidence to disprove the Cheney/bush position.
So, in my opinion, the media hasn't hammered people into changing their minds, just as it didn't hammer people into supporting that war. GWB & Co. hammered at first, and reality has hammered since. And when the American public is told the truth, when they aren't spun to death, when they can trust their leadership, they will do the right thing.
Arf (indeed!)

Superficially, you seen correct.
