As my original post declared, I was told about this by Bruce Moomaw, who posts on Alex Blackwell's planetary science board (invitation only, no anomalists)
The images come from the exploratorium site, which is often a day or three ahead of the official NASA JPL rover site for some intriguing reason.

then back up one directory to get the whole day's reluts, 2 directories to get all navcams, 3 for all Opp data, etc. (learn to read html links. They have a LOT of data in them and it's always worth browsing around. This link was contained in my original post.)
You should also regularly read Doug Ellison's Mars board http://mer.rlproject.com/index.php?which is an eclectic mix of Mars imagers and enthusiasts.
here is Doug's version of the stitch - leaves mine for dead!
A tasty little crater!
