Several years after the revolution...
Pretty good tally of successes and failures of the "Contract with America" crowd.
With a small bit of (deserved I think) prodding and eye-gouging:
Joe Scarborough: "In the end, it's all about getting re-elected, staying in power, and keeping the Democrats out of power. It's disgusting."
With an eye on the ballooning federal deficit, not to mention the looming elections, Republicans of all stripes are looking to polish their credentials as fiscal conservatives these days. But at the same time, they're also passing legislation like the mammoth highway bill that keeps the spend-a-thon going.
