I think this is a great idea. I've read articles where Hollywood is trying to stop this, but that is an even worse idea. I think such a device would actually increase DVD sales, since a lot of people won't buy or rent a certain movie because of one or 2 gratuitously violent or sexual scenes. This device gives viewers a choice of what they allow into their living rooms. There is also a precedent for this since the airline industry has been doing it for years.

If Hollywood were smart, they would start producing DVDs that have multiple ratings for the same movie. Some do in that they show a lot of extra violent or explicitly sexual scenes in the director's cut, but I have never seen where they take an R-rated film and give you a choice of watching a PG-13 version of the film. It would be easy to do, the technology already exists and it wouldn't cost a thing in the long run. It can only increase sales, so why not do it?

Since Hollywood won't do it themselves, I plan on buying the device.
