If I had been the first person on this board to post the picture of that naked prisoner on the floor with a leash around his neck, or the man standing on the box with the hood and the wires, and you had responded, "What exactly are you fishing for here," most people here would have thought you were insane.

Look at the horrified response I got for pointing out that Saddam had done things to prisoners--that insurgents had done things to our prisoners--that made this look like fraternity pranks.

No Israeli soldier has ever gone up to a car, looked in the window, and pumped a bullet into the brain of a frightened child in a car seat. None. Ever.

The difference between a child dying from an Apache missile, and the cold and deliberate point-blank murder of such children, is the difference in WWII between a child dying from a bomber attack, or dying because a soldier lined his family up against the wall of their garden and machine-gunned them down.

Maybe you still don't see it. I can't help you there.

I'm not accusing you of not being outraged by the little girl's death. I'm saying you don't see the distinction in how the two sides operate.

I'm sure most other people knew the point I was making.

A 10 year old telling CNN that he wants to be a suicide bomber when he grows up is equivalent to a 10 year old ecto wanting to be a firefighter, a much different cultural context and that's all.

Different is right. A culture like that is deeply sick. Perhaps irreparably.
