Flame

Outrage and revulsion. A comparison..

On Wednesday, March 31st, four contractors guarding food deliveries in Fallujah were murdered, dismembered, burned, and hung from a bridge.

I could find exactly one thread specifically pertaining to this on CE.

Donald posted this, which included a graphic picture (warning!)

Most people seemed a lot more offended by the picture than the atrocities.

Bowser's response pretty much speaks for itself.

Alcaray: S'pose "Bring it on!" had anything to do with this mess?

From Davin:

I agree that americans, expecially those who supported this war and believe that the aftermath is peachy, should be made to look at that. And that it makes a powerful point. But embedding it that way without warning was pretty tateless and I think pretty insensitive to both the victims of that and to the folks here on this board.

When the prison abuse story broke, as best I can tell Raoul broke it on the CE board. Since then there have been over a dozen threads on this subject.

This is one example

Which action seems to generate the most outrage? From any of us? A dozen soldiers abuse prisoners in Iraq. The U.S. gets grief for it. Fine. Four men die in Fallujah. The U.S. gets grief for that too.

I don't know what to make of this.
