>"And all this while military police must process thousands of Iraqis each month, never knowing who among them is a "bad guy" trying to kill them."
I only wish I had the post I wrote before the war warning of the impossibility of determining WHO was "in bed with Sadam, or the terrorists", or insert Enemy of the Month here).
While Bush gave the orders for us to go into Bagdad and take over the country, it didn't even seem to worry him that our soldiers had to go door to door saying "are you with us or against us?" And how big is Bagdad? Eight million people?
And how about the rest of Iraq?
MY common sense told me this was impossible, but Bush warned us with cataclysmic visions of nuked cities with dirty bombs, death from tons of gas, and chemical and biologoical weapons.
Al Queda was hiding there too.
The drumbeat for war was based on false premises but delivered sublimely under the guise of the call for "freedom". The Iraqis would love us, and we could win their hearts and minds.
And I cringed, because it sounded like madness to me.
And madness it is.
The madness of King George and his war mongering investors in the defense industries. Couple that with his sense of megalomaniac power, his self-righteousness and a blank check from the American people, and you have the worst disaster to hit the US in it's history.
Thank you George. You screwed up. Don't say I didn't tell you so.
