I'm primarily just trying to get information out. In past feeding frenzies, I've discovered that once real information becomes available, the story usually changes. The famous August 2001 memo was the most recent example.
There are serious gaps in this story. The main one is who were the prisoners that were abused? Somebody knows the answer to that question. Was all of this abuse in the area of the prison devoted to high-value prisoners (terrorists, insurgents, etc.)? Did those confined in routine sweeps or questioning get exposed to this? There has been a lot of speculation, but no real data.
The Washington Post has published an article under the hideously misleading headline "Washington Post Publishes Only a Few of Its Many Iraq-Prison Photos."
The article, of course, says that only a tiny fraction of the 1,000 photos are abuse-related, of which the Post published 10. They never actually say how many there really are.
Drudge compounds this misperception in his headline, "Wash Post editor Len Downie says he has 'thousands' of iraq prison photos, has run only 10..."
I give it about ten minutes before certain people here start referring to "thousands of abuse photos" in their posts.
