I like my idea
On each floor of a high rise building, they should put a few dozen firemen poles connecting to the floor below it. If the elevators are out and the stairs are blocked on that level. You can slide down to the floor below you and take the stairs from there. It's a simple low tech (and low cost) solution which can be put into pre-existing buildings.
