Dan Darling at Regnum Crucis has provided some very interesting analysis concerning the raid on Chalabi's office. Darling does not claim to understand what has happened but does provide a variety of well informed perspectives. There is a possibility (which Darling dismisses) that Chalabi was acting as an agent for the Iranian intelligence agency, VEVAK. There is a disturbing but probably incorrect theory that VEVAK suckered the United States into launching the war against Iraq by providing us with false intelligence through Chalabi. It would be "cute" if this were ture, i.e. tricking an enemy into destroying another enemy. It is believed that many of Al Qeada's top leadership are currently operating out of Iran. It would be very interesting if the Iranian mullahs were acting as puppet masters through both Chalabi and Al Qeada.
