The GOP has become the refuge of the petty booboisie, white collar criminals, redneck trailer trash and Neocon thugs. Obama was very vulnerable, there is no reason the GOP couldn't have won this election. But not only was the grotesque caricature of conservatism they were pushing unnacceptable, their attempt to shove it down the public's throat with bullying and extortion was ultimately counter- productive.
There is much of value in Conservative philosophy, they are much more than just a counter to Liberal exuberance and silliness, We need them.
