in the same area

We submitted a paper on the polar wander theory, so we have our dingers crossed at the moment.

It's quite an interesting area, Syrtis Major. Similar to north of Meridiani, my view it's the eastern edge of the former pole and the dark areas may have been material leached out earlier by water on the pole edge.

In this area the pole might have been moving and the air had thinned so no water. North of Meridiani are the water signs when the pole was wetter.

These also remind me of a kind of debris flow, they don't look like water. They are all in the same area as the other photo.

The swirling in the dark and light soil implies a certain amount of force. If that went over a cliff it would be substantial.

Like near Russell Crater, which may have been another former pole:

The wave like shapes in the large crater are interesting, like from ebbing water. It doesn't connect to outside the crater though.

The channels at the bottom are interesting, not like from ice or water at all.

This looks like a cascade down multiple craters of you follow the dunes and dark soil, but not like water. It looks more like something else.

I think the way to proceed is to differentiate erosion like this from water and ice. You have some kinds which you can concede are from that and then if you show another erosion different from water and ice you need a third mechanism. These might also be from ice that has been long buried sublimating and ripping up the ground as it rises through it.

Take this for example. Whatever eroded this did so with no real glacial action and no water channels. Maybe gale force winds provided some motive power.

There's a river like channel about 1/3 of the way down but this wouldn't be from water, so what else?
