The economy does go through cycles of High and Low, regardless of who is President. But the president can have a big influence on how long the high or low spell last, and how high or low it can go.
Considering President Bush was handed a falling economy that suffered hits from 9/11 and Enron, I think the economy has held up well and rebounded quicker than it should have.
Did the President help the economy bounce back up? Did the tax refund help by getting more money in the hands of the consumers? Did keeping Greenspan in control help? Did keeping Interest rates low help?
I think all those things helped.
I do believe the economy would have eventually recovered, regardless of who is president, but I think the actions of President Bush has helped it recover quicker. I don’t think we are completely out of the hole yet- we are on the edge with one foot in and one foot out.
