I'll reply here.
When the goodguys adopt the same tactics as the badguys, they become bad.
The problem I have with what the US is doing is not what they're doing to the badguys, but what they are doing to everyone else.
"Collateral" damage my behind. The Aussies refused to fly 40 missions which in their opinion didn't have military value or were directed against civilians.
Those were targeted by the US.
A "pre-emptive" attack by the US against a nearly defenseless third-world country is about as bad as it gets, and turns a goodguy into a badguy, a rogue.
It's the "collateral" damage, causing untold human misery in pursuit of oil, and in the meantime not getting the terrorists that is the problem.
"Dirty" is OK, but only against the legitimate targets, not against an entire country, or those people who are defending their homeland against a foreign invader.

OK, Nick. "But dirty hands need not be lawless."
