Carlos the Jackal as fertilizer?

That's funny.
And if indeed he did convert, then we can see a good example of how any type of religion can be used for political or personal belief systems to wreak havock for weal or woe.

If anything new should come out of this growing mess, then nations need to unite in common ground about reigning in of terrorists, not only from their own countries, but by sharing certain intelligence. Too bad Bush had no regard for the UN, and now finds himself somewhat in backward-reverse trying to get them to help him.
Maybe Kerry can help integrate us back into a working, respectable condition for international co-operation.

May's issue of Vanity Fair has their longest article ever, put together by several well known journalists on the reasons we went to war titled "The Path to War". One journalist boils it down to Bush's utter disdain for the United Nations. After interviewing dozens of diplomats, members of the inspection teams, and other UN officials, she concluded that the root cause of the failure was the Bush administration's contempt for the UN as an organization.

"Aside from the issue of having to jam the negotiating schedule into the immovable timetable of US Central Command, (which pre-emptively started this pre-emptive war as early as October, 2002), there was a problem with style. Whether it was dealing with inspectors or foreign heads of state, this administration displayed it's trademark swagger. In every single instance, it has backfired."
