E-Bay phishing scam
This should technically be under "Geekspeak," but I thought it was important enough to go here. I got an e-mail today, ostensibly from e-bay, asking me to sign on and confirm some expiring information. The layout would have fooled an E-Bay executive.
It was, of course, fake. Fortunately, I'm paranoid about stuff like this, and forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com, which is looking for these things.
No reputable company will send you something like this. If someone wants personal or financial information online, other than known places where you have specifically signed on to an encrypted sign-on page, you are being taken.
Constant vigilance!
