cooling tektites
As a related matter I wonder if the tectites could cool down enough while off the ground on the Moon or Mars as well. I had a lot of discussions on a related subject which involved running large refrigeration on say the Space Station to cool off heat from lasers. It turns out that it is extremely difficult to dissipate heat in a vacuum so the only way in that case might be to transfer the heat into some matter and expel it. The tektites also would not cool easily unless they were hot enough to glow and dissipate energy that way.
I would think then that the same would happen on Mars, that the atmosphere may be too thin to cool the tektites so they would splash down and deform in shape.
