Bamboozled

Our beloved twin towers and the shock and feeling of hopelessness and vulnerability left us open to GWB's crusade. They immediately started planning the war on Iraq with money Congress had alloted for the war on Afganistan. Today we find out the Pentagon broke the laws by giving Cheney's Halliburton contracts for things it wasn't fit to do.

How did he do it? By cooking intelligence, using patriotism and smart soundbites to convince us of Sadam's imminent terror threat to us all. He walked over anyone and everyone who tried to speak out. People were labelled "un-American" or "Sadam sympathizers" and ANY reporter, newspaper or major anti-war organizer found themselves in the spotlight as unpatriotic.

Why, we even had people on this board who were calling us that disagreed with Bush the foulest, nastiest names if you remember. Plus, we had a press that ran along with Bush's rhetoric. It was scary. Like when you watch archival film footage of Hitler's speeches and popularity, and all those marching troops in lockstep for the Furher and the Homeland. Yup, don't say a popular individual can't bamboozle the people, if he has the right buzz words.

Will Bush and Cheney be impeached? Doubtful. They'll just get voted out.
Then, maybe criminals trials can begin. The one good thing about Kerry is that he lead many of the investigations into Iran Contra and supported the Christic Institute during the hearings, so he knows who the real criminals are. With any luck, some of them may be so unpopular that with their fall from power, they may very well get what's coming to them.
