Genetic mutations in sports
I few years ago I read of a family from Denmark with a genetic condition which causes an excessive amount of red blood cells to form in their blood. This trait gives them a significant increase in endurance, and several of the family members are world class runners. If this trait were to be combined with the gene that gives some native peoples of high altitudes enlarged lungs, an athlete of truly astounding proportions could be built. The three minute mile would be history.
