Tribes in Iraq
Tom Brosz — (archived)

Zeyad has posted a detailed article on tribes in Iraq, including a map! Impressive.

I have been tracking military blogs and letters and it appears that out in the country our forces are deeply involved in tribal politics, using diplomacy instead of guns. Often with great success. It's not often noted how many areas of Iraq DON'T have trouble.
