What irritated me was his characterization of the civilian culture of the United States as a bunch of spoiled babies, whereas they, the few, the proud, the Marines, are grown-ups. Of course, he has a perfect right to insult anyone he wants. Our civilian culture says so.

He might want to note how many BMWs are driven by Republicans. He also might want to note that Howard Dean was a dedicated doctor before he turned to politics, not a job for the faint of heart.

Holding a differing political opinion and having the nerve to be horrified at an act of barbarism doesn't make anyone less of an adult than does threatening massive revenge in the hope of staving off another such act.

It's also not wise to tick off the home front.
