They are wasting fine people, spending good money, and have no idea as to the grief they are causing.

Don't care, either.

They have tasked too few people with too large a mission, they are misusing people in any number of ways. One is to be making guards out of clerks, cooks, mechanics.

Another is refuting the Geneva Convention, demanding interrogation "results", and then acting horrified and prosecuting people who were following orders.

And they have stretched the American military to the limit. They are buying bullets from the Israelis, hiring Halliburton to feed people, contracting out Military Intelligence,

and resorting to every subterfuge they can to avoid adding a draft to their quagmire.

Probably would have a draft which freed wealthy people to spend their tax breaks thereby adding jobs, and drafting poor people to provide employment and keep 'em off welfare.

They would call it a "Patriotic Pride Jobs Enhancement Procedure", with a little something for everyone. Wouldn't have to worry about the "middle class" cause there won't be one.
