Forgot to define gamma or entry angle

"Gamma" is the angle of the velocity vector to the local planetary horizon. As the vehicle flies over the planet, the local horizon is constantly changing. Assuming the entry trajectory in the inertial frame doesn't change and descent altitude is monotonic, the local horizon has a one-to-one correspondance to altitude.
