re: Endurance
Here in the UK, Channel 4 did an AMAZING two part dramatization of Shakletons expedition. One of the best TV programs I've ever watched and a superb recreation of the events of the time - including the moment where that very photograph is taken, and the moment when they're choosing which photographs to take with them when they have to abandon the ship. Beg, steal, borrow or buy a copy and watch it - it's superb.
