Letter to the editor
I found the following letter to the editor in the New York Times. I think this says it better than anyone can say:
To the Editor:
Each of the 887 American servicemen and women killed, the 5,400 wounded and the thousands of Iraqi civilians killed in Iraq is owed a full accounting of the Bush administration's use of incompetent intelligence reports to manufacture justification for a war that has taken so many lives, without reason. The Senate Intelligence Committee's decision to delay its assessment until after the November election is mystifying in its failure to honor those killed and wounded and in its perverted sense of priorities.
The priority today must be honoring those killed by uncovering the reasons for their deaths. The Senate Intelligence Committee must continue its work until it is completed, rather than aborting it upon Congress's recess.

How so very true. 887 American soldiers have lost their lives in pursuit of weapons of mass destruction that did not exist. George Bush needs to explain fully to the families of these heroes how it is he took us to war on such faulty intelligence. Secretary Rumsfeld, who told us all "we know he has them, we know where they are," needs to explain to these families why it was he didn't know where they were. Colin Powell needs to explain to these families how he could mistake mobile weather balloon gas vans for biological weapons trucks. Dick Cheney just needs to shut up before he chokes on his foot.
