The technology I'm talking about is off-the-shelf and has been used for years on some military systems. You can make it very difficult to tamper with electronics. You can use standard error detection protocols from telecommunications technology to ensure more accurate results. There are procedures that would make tampering a lot harder to hide.
While we can't make any election 100% fool or fraud proof, we can do a hell of a lot better than we're currently doing. It isn't that difficult, but despite spending a lot of money, we've squandered the last 3 years, so none of this will be in place this year. Hell, they haven't even fixed the problem with military absentee ballots. Someone deserves to have their ass kicked, then get fired.
