respect for religions?

ah, of course we need to show respect for religions. Of course that's a really tough thing for an atheist like myself considering how a typical conversation at some party inevitably goes:

Religious party guest: My church....blah, blah, blah....Jesus....blah, blah, blah.....holy ghost....blah, blah, blah.

Me: er, excuse me but please don't presume me to be a fellow Christian.

Religious party guest # 2: Are you Jewish?

Me: No, I'm an atheist.

Shocked party guest #3: A what? You don't believe in God? How can anyone not believe in God?

Me (biting lip): Actually I have a great many friends that feel the same way I do.

One of the flock: Well you should come to my church sometime. I'm worried about your soul. We don't want you burning in Hell.

Ultra Religious Right Party Goer: I hope he burns. He's probably gay and a Communist. He's not even worthy of Jesus' piss.

So anyway, I'll start having more respect for other people's religious and spiritual views about the time they seem to give the same respect for someone having none.
