Harry Potter, capitalist tool!

A New York Times columnist comments.

Here's one response.

A sidebar:

Every time a new Harry Potter movie comes out, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, who know FAR better what's good for you than you do, gets all huffy about Coke tying its advertising in to the movies. Pumping the message of lousy nutrition into our kids!

Naturally, it's a good bet that most of these elitists have never gotten within a parsec of a Harry Potter book, or they would have seen that the enthusiastic consumption of piles of sweets and junk food is a major pastime of Hogwarts students. On the train to Hogwarts, Harry practically buys out the entire snack cart and sits in a pile of candy and other goodies with his friends gobbling away while the nutritious sandwiches packed by Ron's thoughtful mother go ignored. The kids don't even have the grace to develop a bellyache.

And butterbeer? Yeesh.

In fact, Harry's everyday meals in the Hogwarts dining room harden my arteries just reading about them.
