interest in what are termed the "minor" sports. Wow! what a spectacular feat for Mr. Armstrong. I quess now I am included in the fans of bicycle racing (previously I considered it something for 12 yr olds) until I started watching the drama that Lance brought to the sport.
I never had much of any interest in Hockey until I watched the Calgary Flame go down to an improbable team from a town that has never seen ice unless it was the rocks mentioned as in "on the rocks." The Tampa Bay Lightening changed that, now I am a hockey fan.
I had pretty much given up on basketball when Shaq left Orlando for L.A. The series between L.A. and the Detroit Pistons re-kindled by interest in B'ball.
Heck, I am even looking forward to the water-polo matches in the Olympics now.
Sports expresses the best in us. Overcoming obstacles, experiencing the thrill of winning that is so great it allows us to dare to lose. Way to go Lance.
