What's happening in Afghanistan

As with Iraq, we can all breath easier in a few years if Afghanistan gets a few successful elections under their belts. One way to tell if a democracy works, is if a leader steps down when he loses. This is almost more important that a complete end to all terrorist actions.
Israel, for example, is still under attack by terrorists, but I think everyone agrees it has a democratic government system that works at least as well as many others.
